Architect's sketchbook, ca. 1925-1930.

Sketchbook of an unidentified architect, builder, or house carpenter, working in the Wilmington, Del., area ca. 1925-1930. The book was used to make field sketches in pencil for what appear to be modifications to existing buildings. Sketches include rough plans (with dimensions), elevations, perspectives, and details of woodwork such as cornices, moldings, and staircases. Most buildings are in vernacular styles rather than more sophisticated designs. Buildings represented include: Florence Crittenton residence, Lammot du Pont residence, Unionville Consolidated School, the Orangerie at Longwood Gardens, the Bowen residence at Kennett Square, the gardener's cottage on the J. J. Raskob estate, the No. 2 School, and the W. M. Francis residence.
